Literacy
Reading, spelling and writing
Reading is not guessing. Using Sounds-Write, a structured synthetic phonics program, we build the sound and letter code explicitly and in order, so decoding and spelling become reliable rather than lucky. Comprehension and written expression follow from there.
Speech sounds
Clarity and being understood
When someone is hard to understand, the world starts asking them to repeat themselves, and some quietly stop trying. We work out which sounds and patterns are involved and use the best evidenced practice to work towards clear speech.
Social and functional communication
Children and adults
Communication is bigger than speech. For children that can mean play, friendships, conversation and speaking up for themselves. For adults, it often means practical, respectful strategies, including involving support workers and families, so that choices and needs are genuinely understood.
Mobile service
Based in Kelmscott. I come to you.
There is no clinic to visit and no waiting room. Sessions run in homes, schools, childcare centres, day programs, bookable community rooms and other everyday settings across Kelmscott and the surrounding suburbs. Travel is charged one way and estimated for you before we begin, so there are no surprises.
At home
Familiar surroundings and strategies built into your real routine.
At school or childcare
Subject to the school agreeing, with clearances, timetabling and a suitable space sorted in advance.
In a community space
Bookable rooms at local family centres are an option when home or school does not suit, along with day programs and group homes.
